Police arrest four cult members, recover weapons in Lagos


In a bid to rid Lagos State of cult gangs and their activities Police Command on Thursday announced the arrest of four cult members of the Neo Black Movement of Africa, aka Black Axe in the state.

In a statement issued by CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the command spokesperson, operatives attached to Area J, Ajah, while on routine Stop and Search, arrested two suspected cultists: 23-year-old Michael Abejoye, male, and 34-year-old Olalekan Quasim, male at Eleko Junction, Ajah Area at 1.30pm, with the regalia of Aiye Confraternity for their 7/7 annual celebration.

Elsewhere, operatives attached to Ogombo Division, arrested two suspected Aiye Confraternity members one 25-year-old Andoh Emmanuel Kolawole, male and 28-year-old Oluwasegun Destiny, male on 8th July, 202, at 6.30am, in Ogombo Area of Lagos State.

Items recovered from them include one locally-made double barrel short gun, seven live cartridges, one expended cartridge and some regalia of the Aiye Confraternity.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the Command’s Strike Team, Ikeja, for proper investigation and possible prosecution, while he reiterated the command’s commitment to sustain its fight against cultism and other forms of criminality in Lagos State,” CSP Adejobi stated.
